About Allie Farris
Allie Farris’s sound might be described as a fresh mix of Carole King and Carly Simon with varied influences ranging from Tom Petty, to Bruce Springsteen, to Brandi Carlile. Allie’s contemporary, piano-driven songs are melodic, thought-provoking and exceptionally memorable. Over her ten year career that began in her hometown of Dallas, Texas, Allie Farris has played hundreds of shows to thousands of people, opening for established artists and headlining in a wide array of clubs, venues, and festivals spanning across the US.
Allie has had great experiences in a number of songwriting competitions: She won the “Songwriter Serenade” songwriting and performance competition in LaGrange, Texas; She took second place at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Troubadour Competition; Allie won third place at Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter’s Showcase; was an Emerging Artist at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival; and most recently Allie was a finalist in “NPR’s Mountain Stage NewSong Competition”, performing at New York City’s Lincoln Center. She was also an Official Showcase performer at the 2015 Folk Alliance International, and appeared at the Woody Guthrie Festival in 2015.
Allie resides in Nashville, TN and is currently promoting her latest recording “Live In Nashville”, recorded in front of a live audience in November 2013 at The High Watt in Nashville. Produced by Gus Berry, the album features Gabe Dixon on keyboards and background vocals, Ben Jackson on drums and percussion, Nathan Dugger on guitars, and Brad Shapiro on bass. She also has her own YouTube channel that features live piano-vocal recordings of her original songs and covers of other artists.
